GUIDELINES
RULES AND POLICIES

     All students duly enrolled at the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and all faculty and administrative staff are entitled to use the library facilities subject to existing library rules and regulations.

LIBRARY BORROWERS’ CARD
  a. Every student of the college shall be required to have a library borrower’s card, which he/she will present at the entrance every time he/she enter the research room.
  b. The library card is valid only for the current semester or summer term.
  c. Library Card is non-transferable.
  d. Lost library card shall be re-issued provided the student shall submit one 1”x1” ID picture and pays the corresponding  amount for replacement.

 
Circulation Rules
    a. Reference books and periodicals including newspapers shall read in the reading room only.
    b. General Education, Filipiniana books can be taken out of the library.
    c. Fiction books are lent out for a week and can be renewed for another week. Books in great demand may be recalled any time or be limited to shorter circulation period.
    d. Each student is allowed to borrow only one book at a time.
    e. Thesis and research outputs shall not be photocopied nor taken out of the library

  Fines/Penalties
   Students
    Fines and penalties shall be charged from students with overdue books according to fine posted:
    1. Professional Books
    2. General Education Books
    3. Fiction Books

  Employees
    Faculty and staff shall be subjected to fines and penalties for overdue books according to imposed fines for:
    1. Professional Books
    2. General Education Books
    3. Fiction Books

  Monthly monitoring of overdue books of faculty and staff shall be submitted to the accounting office for respective deduction in salary.

  Lost and Damage Books
  Fines maybe stopped at the request of the student concerned after he/she reports a lost book. Lost or badly damaged  books shall be replaced at cost. The original book remains the property of the Library.

  Circulation or Overnight Books
    a. General Education Books
    b. Filipiniana Books
    c. Fiction/Pocket Books
    d. Selected Books

  These books can be taken out from the library at 5:00 P.M. and returned the following day or after a holiday before 9:00 A.M.

  Rules for Borrowing Books/Materials

    a. Only students with Library Borrower’s Card are allowed to borrow books and other materials from the library.
    b. Faculty members and administrative staff are allowed to borrow books from the library for a maximum period of
         one (1) week
    c. Students are allowed to borrow one book at a time.
    d. Books should be taken out from the library at 5:00 P.M. and returned the following day before 9:00 A.M.
    e. Reference books and periodicals including newspaper should not be taken out from the library except for photocopying purposes.

  Inter-Library Loans
    a. Any student from other Colleges or Universities can make use of the JBLMU- University Library provided that they have their Library Borrower’s Card or School I.D.
    b. Recommendation letter from their Director/Chief/Head Librarian.
    c. Only one (1) book at a time is allowed at the research room.
    d. Guest borrowers’ are not allowed to borrow books for overnight use,
    e. If the borrower wanted to photocopy a portion, he/she is allowed to bring out only one (1) book at a time within the school campus where photocopying machines are made available.

  Note: JBLFMU students who decide to do research at other libraries are given recommendation letter addressed
       to the librarian of the school where they are going to do research.

 
Rules Governing Rare Books, Reserved, and Special Collections


     All books in the rare, reserve and special collection should not be taken out from the library by the borrowers.
