Unlocking Efficiency: Harnessing the Power of Records Management System for Organizational Improvement


As part of the University Library’s Echo-Seminar & Mentoring Program conducted in April 21, 2025, Marite P. Vargas, RL, MSLS, Chief Librarian, together with Christine Joy Dalida, Library Clerk, presented key insights from their participation in the 2-days Records Management Training Workshop facilitated by Engr. Angelica C. Fraginal

Their session, “Unlocking Efficiency: Harnessing the Power of Records Management for Organizational Improvement,” focused on the principles and practices of establishing an effective records management system. Key topics included:

•Records Management Principles – understanding what records to keep, why to keep them, and how to manage them systematically.

•Records Retention System – developing retention schedules to preserve essential records and securely dispose of obsolete ones.

•Files Management – strategies for logical classification, labeling, and organizing records for easy retrieval.

•Records Center Operations – streamlining processes for records turnover, charge-out, and disposal.
